Cambodian Queen Mother Receives OB-PS Champions Award
SIEM REAP, Cambodia, June 18, 2026 – Cambodia’s First Lady, Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet, has been appointed National President of the Olave Baden-Powell Society (OB-PS) in Cambodia and received an international award from the organization during global Girl Guiding events hosted in Siem Reap.
In a statement posted on social media on Thursday, Pich Chanmony said she had been granted royal permission by Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk to accept the Champions Award on the Queen Mother’s behalf.
The award was presented by the Olave Baden-Powell Society during the 39th World Conference of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) and the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Olave Baden-Powell Society, which Cambodia is hosting in Siem Reap.
Pich Chanmony also announced that she had been appointed National President of the Olave Baden-Powell Society in Cambodia, describing the appointment as a significant honour.
A congratulatory letter dated June 11 from OB-PS President Kaela Sáenz Oriti said the appointment recognized Pich Chanmony’s longstanding commitment to the development and empowerment of young people.
The letter said her leadership would strengthen the society’s work in Cambodia, deepen links with the organization’s international network and create new opportunities for collaboration, friendship and service within the global Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting movement.
Pich Chanmony also said she had received the Princess Benedikte Award, another honorary distinction presented by the Olave Baden-Powell Society.
She dedicated the recognition to the leadership, members and supporters of the Cambodia Girl Guides Association, thanking them for their commitment and contributions in advancing the organization’s work.
Cambodia is hosting the WAGGGS World Conference and the OB-PS annual meeting in Siem Reap this week, bringing together delegates from around the world to discuss leadership, youth development and international cooperation within the Girl Guiding movement.
