US Support Helps 781 Cambodian Families Repair Homes in Banteay Meanchey

BANTEAY MEANCHEY, Aug. 14, 2026 — A total of 781 out of 791 households affected by the border situation in Cambodia’s Banteay Meanchey province have received shelter repair kits through support from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the US government.

The assistance is aimed at helping affected families repair and restore their homes, particularly as many communities continue to face disruptions to their livelihoods linked to the border situation.

The shelter repair kits have been distributed to:

401 households in Ou Beichoan Commune
380 households in Kok Romeat Commune

One recipient family said through IOM’s Complaints and Feedback Mechanism (CFM) that the materials would allow them to repair their roof and protect family members from heavy rain and strong winds.

The family expressed gratitude to IOM and the people and government of the United States, saying the assistance had provided significant relief while the border situation continued to affect local livelihoods.

IOM said the assistance goes beyond the distribution of materials. Through its CFM, recipient families can ask questions, confirm that they have received the necessary assistance and share feedback about their experiences.

The mechanism allows communities to communicate directly with IOM throughout the implementation of the programme.

With support from the US government, IOM said it is helping crisis-affected families restore safer homes and rebuild their livelihoods with dignity, while ensuring that community feedback remains part of the process.
