Pich Chanmony Appointed Cambodia Head of OB-PS
PHNOM PENH, June 19, 2026 – Cambodia’s First Lady, Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet, has been appointed National President of the Olave Baden-Powell Society (OB-PS) in Cambodia and received the Princess Benedikte Honorary Membership Award in recognition of her support for youth development and the global Girl Guiding movement.
The appointment and award were announced on Thursday by the Olave Baden-Powell Society (OB-PS), an international network that supports the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).
According to a congratulatory letter dated June 11 from OB-PS President Kaela Sáenz Oriti, the appointment recognises Dr. Pich Chanmony’s longstanding commitment to empowering young people, particularly girls and young women, and her support for the Girl Guiding movement in Cambodia and internationally.
OB-PS, which operates under the patronage of Princess Benedikte of Denmark, also presented Dr. Pich Chanmony with the Princess Benedikte Honorary Membership Award in recognition of her financial support and contribution to advancing WAGGGS’ mission of promoting leadership, education and opportunities for girls and young women.
The organisation said it was confident her leadership would strengthen cooperation, friendship and meaningful initiatives benefiting Girl Guides in Cambodia while reinforcing links with the wider international movement.
The appointment comes as Cambodia hosts the 39th World Conference of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) and the 42nd Annual Gathering of the Olave Baden-Powell Society in Siem Reap.
Organisers said the recognition reflects Cambodia’s growing role within the international Girl Guiding movement and is expected to encourage more Cambodian girls and young women to develop leadership skills, confidence, discipline and a commitment to community service.
The Olave Baden-Powell Society is a global philanthropic network that supports WAGGGS programmes aimed at empowering girls and young women through education, leadership development and social engagement.
