PHNOM PENH, 28 June 2026 — Cambodia has continued to advance its development agenda despite negative impacts from Thailand’s aggression and a challenging international environment, Senate President Hun Sen said in a message marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Cambodian People’s Party on 28 June 2026.

Hun Sen said that during the first six months of 2026, Cambodia had maintained political stability, security, public order, macroeconomic stability and the livelihoods of its people despite the effects of what he described as Thailand’s aggression against Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He said Cambodia’s economy is projected to grow by 4.2% in 2026, supported by strong food security, expanding international trade, particularly exports, and rising state revenue. He added that the government has sought to turn challenges into opportunities by expanding domestic production, promoting locally made products and strengthening tax collection, reflecting the country’s economic resilience.

Hun Sen also said civilians displaced by the border conflict have largely returned home, while those unable to do so because their villages remain under what he described as illegal occupation by Thai forces continue to receive government assistance.

He added that Cambodia has worked to inform the international community about the situation and secure support for its position that the border dispute with Thailand should be resolved peacefully and in accordance with international law.

Hun Sen said the government has also prioritised employment opportunities for Cambodian migrant workers returning from Thailand. He attributed Cambodia’s stability and continued progress to national unity and the collective support of the Cambodian people behind the Royal Government led by Prime Minister Hun Manet in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and development.
