BEIJING, 16 July 2026 — Chinese technology giant Haier Group has partnered with a Cambodian company to establish the country’s first tablet assembly plant, aiming to produce affordable devices to support digital learning and expand access to technology across Cambodia.

The investment was announced during a meeting on 15 July between Prime Minister Hun Manet and Diao Yunfeng, Vice President of Haier Group, on the sidelines of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in China.

During the meeting, Diao briefed the Prime Minister on Haier’s global operations, noting that the company is a leading manufacturer of smart home appliances and digital technology products, with operations in more than 60 countries and approximately 440 million users worldwide.

He said Haier has partnered with a local Cambodian company to establish the country’s first tablet assembly facility. The project aims to manufacture affordable tablet devices for students, university learners and workers in the informal economy, helping to expand access to digital tools and support remote learning.

Hun Manet welcomed the investment, reaffirming the Cambodian government’s commitment to supporting foreign investors through various investment incentive policies designed to facilitate business growth.

The Prime Minister also praised the affordable tablet initiative, describing it as an important contribution to Cambodia’s digital transformation agenda, particularly in the education sector and the development of human capital.

He encouraged Haier to continue working closely with its local partner and relevant Cambodian ministries to maximise the benefits of the government’s investment incentives and explore further opportunities to expand its operations in Cambodia.
