Seven Killed in Thailand School Shooting Near Bangkok
BANGKOK, 7 August 2026 — A school shooting near Bangkok left seven people dead, including three teachers, three students and the student gunman, Thai authorities said on Friday.
According to Thai media outlet Khaosod, the shooting occurred at Thepsirin School in Bang Kruai district, Nonthaburi province, on the outskirts of the Thai capital.
Authorities said the suspect, who was a student at the school, opened fire, killing six people before turning the weapon on himself.
The victims included three teachers and three students, while the shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, bringing the total death toll to seven.
Police have not yet determined the motive behind the attack, and an investigation is underway.
Thailand has one of the highest rates of civilian firearm ownership in Southeast Asia. It is estimated that around 10 million firearms are in circulation across the country.
Despite previous government pledges to tighten gun control laws, Thailand has continued to experience recurring mass shooting incidents in recent years, raising concerns over firearm access and public safety.
