Apsara Dance, Khmer Arts Highlight Cambodia’s Cultural Presence in France
ANGOULÊME, August 29, 2026 — Cambodia has brought its rich cultural heritage to the international stage through Apsara dance and traditional Khmer performances at the 2026 Festival du Film Francophone d’Angoulême in France.
The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Khmer Arts Association Teap Monorom in France, presented the Apsara dance as part of the festival’s cultural programme.
The Cambodian artistic delegation also performed “Preah Prasiddh” (ព្រៃប្រសិទ្ធ), a royal composition by the late King Norodom Sihanouk, as a tribute to his legacy and his significant contribution as one of the founding figures of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).
The performances offered an opportunity to showcase Cambodia’s distinctive artistic heritage to an international audience while highlighting the country’s longstanding cultural and historical ties with the Francophone community.
Notably, Cambodia has been selected as the “Country of Honour” for the 2026 Festival du Film Francophone d’Angoulême, giving Cambodian cinema, culture and arts a prominent platform at one of France’s major Francophone film festivals.
The participation reflects Cambodia’s continued efforts to promote its cultural heritage and artistic identity on the international stage, while strengthening cultural ties between Cambodia, France and the wider Francophone community.
