Cambodia Registers 2,353 Domestic Products in First Five Months of 2026
PHNOM PENH, 29 June 2026 — Cambodia registered 2,353 domestic products during the first five months of 2026, reflecting strong growth in local production as the government seeks to expand import substitution and strengthen domestic industries, Prime Minister Hun Manet said.
Speaking at the National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Day on 27 June 2026, Hun Manet said the increase demonstrates the growing capacity of Cambodian producers and aligns with the government’s objective of replacing imported goods with locally manufactured products wherever possible.
Citing the 2022 Economic Census, the Prime Minister said Cambodia has around 750,000 micro, small and medium enterprises employing approximately three million people, including nearly 1.85 million women. He said the sector contributes about 63% of the country’s gross domestic product and provides more than 70% of total employment, excluding agriculture.
Hun Manet noted that the number of registered products has risen steadily in recent years. According to the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, 1,336 products were registered in 2023, increasing to 2,158 in 2024.
He said the registration of 2,353 products in just the first five months of 2026 highlights continued growth in domestic manufacturing and represents a source of national pride, as the government aims to expand the availability of Cambodian-made products.
Hun Manet stressed that the government’s goal is not to eliminate imports entirely but to increase domestic production and gradually replace imported goods where local manufacturers have the capacity to meet demand.
