PHNOM PENH, May 28, 2026 — Cambodian Defence Minister Tea Seiha has paid tribute to a senior military commander on the first anniversary of his death during clashes linked to the Thai military incursion along the Cambodia-Thailand border in 2025.

In a social media message accompanied by a memorial portrait, Tea Seiha honored the late officer’s patriotism, courage and sacrifice in defending Cambodia’s sovereignty during the border conflict.

The defence minister described the fallen commander as a loyal servant of the nation whose dedication and bravery would remain in the memory of the Cambodian people and the armed forces.

The tribute comes as Cambodia continues commemorating the events surrounding the border clashes that erupted following the deadly confrontation in May 2025, which later escalated into broader tensions between Cambodian and Thai forces.

The anniversary has prompted renewed expressions of remembrance and patriotism online, with many Cambodians paying respect to soldiers who lost their lives during the conflict.

Cambodian officials have repeatedly stated that those who died defending the country’s territorial integrity should be remembered as national heroes whose sacrifices contributed to protecting the nation’s sovereignty and peace.
