Four Bangkok Police Officers Transferred After Din Daeng Gambling Raid
BANGKOK, Sept. 25, 2026 — Four senior officers from Bangkok’s Din Daeng Police Station have been transferred to the Metropolitan Police Division 1 Operations Centre while authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding an illegal gambling operation raided in the district.
The transfers came after an administrative operation on Sept. 23 uncovered an alleged gambling den in rented rooms on Soi Prachasongkhro 14, Yaek 11, where 53 people were detained, including 45 alleged gamblers and eight people accused of organising the gambling operation.
The raid was led by Deputy Interior Minister Worasit Liangprasit together with Department of Provincial Administration Director-General Nucha Kosaisawilai and the department’s S.W.A.T. special operations team.
Administrative officials and Din Daeng police were also involved in the operation, which began at about 6:30 p.m. following complaints of unlicensed gambling.
Authorities said the detainees included 22 men and 23 women allegedly involved in gambling, along with six men and two women accused of organising the activity. No one at the scene claimed ownership of the gambling venue.
Officials seized 350,000 baht in cash, gambling chips valued at about 635,000 baht, hi-lo gambling equipment and account books recording money circulation, according to reports.
Four officers moved during inquiry
On Sept. 24, Metropolitan Police Division 1 Commander Pol Maj Gen Worasaek Phisitbannakorn ordered a fact-finding committee to investigate the case.
The committee was established under Division 1 Order 203/2569 and is tasked with determining whether any individuals were connected to the circumstances surrounding the gambling operation and reporting its findings.
A separate order, issued on Sept. 23, transferred four Din Daeng officers to the Metropolitan Police Division 1 Operations Centre from Sept. 24 until further notice.
They are:
- Pol Col Pasit Katuengngan, superintendent of Din Daeng Police Station;
- Pol Lt Col Saran Suradechanon, deputy investigation superintendent;
- Pol Lt Col Udom Kanoknapakul, prevention and suppression inspector serving as deputy superintendent; and
- Pol Lt Col Prawit Kongchumphon, investigation inspector.
The officers were transferred away from their previous positions while the fact-finding process is under way. Thai PBS reported that the order places them at the Division 1 Operations Centre pending further instructions.
Acting superintendent appointed
Pol Col Chayuti Pongsak, an investigation superintendent at Metropolitan Police Division 1, has been assigned to serve concurrently as acting superintendent of Din Daeng Police Station.
The order took effect on Sept. 24 and will remain in force until further notice.
The transfers do not by themselves establish misconduct or complicity by the four officers. The purpose of the fact-finding committee is to establish the relevant facts and determine whether any officers or other individuals were connected to the circumstances surrounding the gambling operation.
The case comes amid renewed scrutiny of illegal gambling venues in Bangkok after the administrative authorities’ raid uncovered a sizeable operation in a residential area of Din Daeng.
All 53 detainees were taken to Din Daeng Police Station for legal proceedings following the raid.
