PHNOM PENH, 28 June 2026 — Cambodia must continue strengthening its economy, military and political institutions to safeguard its sovereignty, territorial integrity and lasting peace, Senate President Hun Sen said in a message marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Cambodian People’s Party on 28 June 2026.

Hun Sen said the past 47 years have demonstrated that the Cambodian People’s Party has remained steadfast in its political principles under all circumstances. He added that the close relationship between the party and the Cambodian people has become a fundamental pillar of the nation’s development and the driving force behind its achievements.

He acknowledged that Cambodia will continue to face significant internal and external challenges in the years ahead, particularly unpredictable developments beyond the country’s control.

Reflecting on events in 2025 and early 2026, Hun Sen said the experience had reinforced the importance of national unity and resilience. He stressed that only by building a stronger Cambodia economically, militarily and politically can the country effectively defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, peace and national identity.

Hun Sen added that peace cannot be granted by others but must be achieved through the country’s own efforts and protected through its own strength.
