Hun Sen Hails China-Cambodia ‘Ironclad Friendship’ in Message to Xi Jinping
PHNOM PENH, 30 June 2026 — Cambodian Senate President and Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) President Hun Sen has sent a congratulatory message to Chinese President and Communist Party of China (CPC) General Secretary Xi Jinping, marking the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
In his message, Hun Sen praised the CPC for fostering a new model of party-to-party relations based on mutual respect, mutual learning and mutual trust among countries, political parties and peoples, while contributing to global peace and prosperity. He also commended China’s growing role in promoting peace and dialogue in regional and international affairs under the CPC’s leadership.
Hun Sen welcomed the CPC’s path of peaceful development and highlighted Xi’s major global initiatives, including the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the Global Development Initiative (GDI), the Global Security Initiative (GSI), and the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI). He said these initiatives demonstrate China’s constructive contribution to addressing global challenges and advancing the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
The Cambodian leader also congratulated China on its achievements under the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) and expressed confidence that, under Xi’s leadership, China would successfully implement its 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) as it works towards its second centenary goal of building a modern socialist country by 2049.
Hun Sen further praised the longstanding friendship between Cambodia and China, saying it reflects the countries’ “ironclad friendship” and their shared vision of building an all-weather Cambodia-China community with a shared future in the new era, further elevating bilateral relations to a new level.
