Malaysian Passenger Arrested at Techo Airport with 570g of Suspected Heroin
PHNOM PENH, September 3, 2026 — Cambodian customs officials have detained a Malaysian male passenger after allegedly discovering 81 small packages of suspected heroin, weighing a combined 570 grams, at Techo International Airport.
The incident occurred on September 2 at the airport’s departure terminal, where customs and excise officials inspected the passenger as he was preparing to leave Cambodia for Taiwan.
During the inspection, officials reportedly found the suspected heroin concealed among the passenger’s belongings.
After completing preliminary procedures and preparing an official customs violation report, customs authorities handed the suspect, along with the alleged drugs and related items, to the competent anti-drug police unit.
The suspect and evidence have been transferred for further investigation and legal action in accordance with Cambodian law.
