Myanmar President to Visit Cambodia on September 11–12

Singapore, September 4, 2026 — Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing is scheduled to make an official visit to Cambodia from September 11 to 12, 2026, according to high-level Cambodian sources cited by The Straits Times on September 3.

The visit will follow Min Aung Hlaing’s official trip to Vietnam from September 4–6 at the invitation of Vietnamese President To Lam.

Cambodian officials said in August that the invitation was intended to strengthen friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and Myanmar. The exact dates had not previously been publicly confirmed.

The upcoming Cambodia visit is part of a broader series of diplomatic engagements by Min Aung Hlaing since becoming president earlier this year. His recent travels to ASEAN countries have been widely viewed as an effort to increase regional engagement and seek greater international legitimacy for Myanmar’s military-backed administration.

With his planned visits to Vietnam and Cambodia, Min Aung Hlaing will have visited four ASEAN member states—Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia—in recent months, reflecting increased bilateral engagement despite Myanmar’s continued political difficulties within ASEAN.

ASEAN has continued to restrict Myanmar’s political representation at high-level meetings over the military government’s failure to make progress on the bloc’s Five-Point Consensus, which was adopted following the 2021 military coup.
