Pattaya CCTV Captures Alleged Abduction of Myanmar Worker
PATTAYA, 30 June 2026 — A Myanmar national has accused his former Indian employers of abducting and assaulting him in Pattaya after he was allegedly forced into a car outside a restaurant before being taken to a hotel and attacked again, according to police and CCTV footage.
The incident allegedly occurred at about 8pm on 27 June 2025 in South Pattaya, although the victim filed a complaint with Pattaya City Police Station on 29 June 2026.
The victim, identified as 27-year-old Rarm Kumar, told police he was sitting with friends at a restaurant in Soi VC when a black MG sedan arrived. He alleged that one man approached and touched his shoulder before another got out of the vehicle, slapped and punched him, and forced him into the car despite attempts by bystanders to intervene.
Rarm identified the suspects as Amit Jain and Amit Chaturvedi, whom he said were his former employers. He told investigators he had worked for them since October of the previous year but was dismissed after refusing to work outside his agreed hours. He also claimed they later accused him of theft, an allegation he denied.
The victim further alleged that his passport and other personal documents had been withheld since his employment ended, leaving him unable to recover his identification.
According to his complaint, he was taken to a hotel near the Bali Hai area in South Pattaya, where he was assaulted again and accused of making false statements about the two men. He said he was later released near a traffic junction in South Pattaya before seeking help from the administrator of a local community page and reporting the incident to police.
Police referred the victim to Pattaya City Hospital for a medical examination and have collected CCTV footage and witness statements. Investigators are preparing to summon the suspects for questioning as they examine allegations of assault, unlawful detention and passport retention.
The investigation remains ongoing as officers review evidence to determine whether criminal charges will be filed.
