US Praises Cambodia’s Efforts Against Online Scams
PHNOM PENH, 16 July 2026 — The United States Embassy in Cambodia has recognised the Cambodian government’s efforts to crack down on online scam operations and pledged continued cooperation to dismantle illegal scam centres and strengthen law enforcement collaboration between the two countries.
The commitment was made during a meeting between Aleks Zittle, Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Cambodia, and Chhay Sinarith, head of the Secretariat of Cambodia’s Committee for Combating Technology-Facilitated Scams.
According to the US Embassy, Zittle acknowledged the committee’s anti-scam operations carried out over the past year and encouraged the Cambodian government to accelerate its campaign to ensure that operators and those behind online scam networks are brought to justice.
The embassy said both sides also agreed to deepen cooperation in dismantling illegal scam centres and enhancing partnerships between the law enforcement agencies of Cambodia and the United States.
The meeting reflects ongoing collaboration between the two countries to combat transnational cyber-enabled crime and strengthen efforts to disrupt criminal networks operating in the region.
