519kg of Crystal Meth Seized in Two Bangkok Investigations
BANGKOK, Sept. 26, 2026 — Bangkok police have seized a combined 519 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, or “ice,” in two separate investigations, arresting four Thai suspects and intercepting a 300kg shipment allegedly bound for southern Thailand.
Metropolitan Police Bureau Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Siam Boonsom announced the cases on Sept. 25 in his capacity as head of the bureau’s narcotics suppression centre. Police said the investigations were part of an ongoing effort to identify and dismantle drug-trafficking networks operating in Bangkok.
In the first case, police arrested a 46-year-old Thai man identified as Jirot and seized 300kg of crystal meth, a lorry registered in Songkhla and two mobile phones.
Investigators said they had received information that a large quantity of methamphetamine would be transported from Bangkok to southern Thailand. Officers subsequently located the lorry at a petrol station on the inbound Bang Na-Trat Road near kilometre 8.
A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered the drugs hidden inside 15 rice sacks in the rear cargo area, with each sack containing methamphetamine packages.
According to police, Jirot told investigators that he had collected the drugs from the Ram Inthra area and was supposed to deliver them to Nakhon Si Thammarat province.
Police said he had previously made two similar deliveries and received a combined payment of about 300,000 baht. He allegedly had not yet been paid for the latest delivery when officers arrested him.
Investigators are continuing to trace other people allegedly connected to the trafficking network.
In the second case, officers from Metropolitan Police Divisions 6 and 7 arrested three Thai men — Thanaphon, 30, Chaiphon, 36, and Kitiphol, 34 — at a house in Soi Thap Yao, Lat Krabang district.
Police seized another 219kg of crystal methamphetamine, along with a .38-calibre handgun and 12 rounds of ammunition.
Investigators said they had received information that several Thai men were regularly gathering at the property and allegedly using motorcycles to guide vehicles in and out of the premises at night.
Police searched the house on Sept. 24 after receiving information that a new shipment of drugs had allegedly been brought there for storage before distribution. Officers said they found the methamphetamine concealed in black plastic bags inside the property and the handgun in Thanaphon’s possession.
Police said all three suspects admitted that the drugs belonged to them. They were taken to Metropolitan Police Division 7 before being transferred to narcotics investigators for further legal proceedings.
The four suspects face drug-related charges, with the first suspect initially charged with possession of a Category 1 narcotic with intent to sell in circumstances that police allege involved commercial-scale distribution and posed risks to public safety.
The investigations remain ongoing as Bangkok police seek to identify additional members of the alleged trafficking networks and determine the wider distribution routes for the seized methamphetamine.
