BREAKING: Thai Soldiers Opened Fire on Cambodian Civilians in Prey Chan village, Banteay Meanchey Province
Phnom Penh, November 12, 2025 — H.E. Neth Pheaktra, Minister of the Ministry of Information published on his official Facebook page noted that a serious incident occurred this afternoon along the Cambodia–Thailand border, in which Thai soldiers allegedly opened fire on Cambodian civilians, injuring five people.
According to preliminary information from local authorities, the incident took place at approximately 4:00 p.m. in Prey Chan Village, Ou Bey Choan Commune, Ou Chrov District, Banteay Meanchey Province. The victims, all civilians, sustained varying degrees of injuries and were immediately transported to nearby medical facilities for emergency treatment.
The Ministry of Information, under the leadership of H.E. Neth Pheaktra, expressed deep concern over this violent act, describing it as a serious violation of humanitarian principles and peaceful border coexistence. Cambodia emphasized that such actions, if confirmed, represent a grave threat to human security and bilateral trust between the two neighboring countries.
The Cambodian authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident in coordination with relevant local and national bodies. Cambodia also called for the Thai side to urgently clarify the circumstances, ensure accountability, and prevent the recurrence of similar incidents that could endanger civilian lives and regional stability.
Cambodia reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace, stability, and good-neighborly relations, while urging all parties to exercise maximum restraint and resolve any border-related issues through dialogue, cooperation, and existing bilateral mechanisms.
