Cambodia halts applications for new fuel stations until July 2026 for safety review
PHNOM PENH, Jan 24, 2026 — Cambodia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy will temporarily suspend the acceptance of applications to establish new fuel and gas stations from March 1 to July 31, 2026, the ministry said on Friday.
The suspension is intended to allow authorities to review and revise technical safety regulations governing the construction and operation of fuel and gas stations, as well as to set updated guidelines for approving new stations, according to a ministry notice.
The ministry said applications related to existing fuel and gas stations — including safety certification, licence renewals, transfer of operating rights and station modifications — will continue to be processed as usual during the suspension period.
The announcement was issued at 1:53 p.m. local time on Friday.
