Thai Air Force aircraft crashes in Chiang Mai
CHIANG MAI, Jan 29, 2026 — A light attack aircraft operated by the Royal Thai Air Force crashed on Thursday in Chiang Mai province in northern Thailand, authorities said.
The AT-6TH Wolverine aircraft went down in Ban Huai Fang village in Chom Thong district, according to a statement posted on Thai military social media. Emergency and security officials were dispatched to the site and an investigation is under way.
The crash occurred near Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest peak. Officials said the location is several hundred kilometres from the Thai–Cambodian border.
Authorities said no official cause has been confirmed and there is no indication at this stage that the incident is linked to border tensions or broader regional security developments.
