Sun Chanthol Says Cambodia Ready to Host Japanese Auto Suppliers
PHNOM PENH, March 5, 2026 — Cambodia has expressed strong support for Japanese investors interested in establishing automotive parts manufacturing plants in the country, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol said on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters during the ASEAN–Cambodia Business Summit 2026 in Phnom Penh, Sun Chanthol said the government welcomes and fully supports Japanese plans to set up factories producing vehicle components for export.
The move aligns with Cambodia’s broader strategy to attract investment in electronics and automotive manufacturing, sectors seen as key to upgrading the country’s industrial base.
Sun Chanthol, who also serves as First Vice-Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), encouraged Japanese companies to engage with the investment board to explore opportunities and access available incentives.
Cambodia has been seeking to diversify its manufacturing sector beyond traditional industries such as garments, while strengthening its role in regional supply chains for automotive and high-tech industries.
