BRUSSELS, April 27 — Cambodia and Thailand reaffirmed their commitment to a ceasefire and the peaceful resolution of their border dispute during talks held on the sidelines of the 25th ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting on Monday.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn met Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow for what officials described as candid discussions on the border situation, including confidence-building measures and wider bilateral relations.

Both sides also pledged to fully implement the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting signed on Dec. 27, 2025.

Prak Sokhonn said lasting peace between the two neighbouring countries would require genuine commitment and full respect for international law, the ASEAN Charter and all existing treaties and agreements binding both sides.

He added that stable Cambodia-Thailand relations would contribute to broader peace, stability and unity within ASEAN.

The meeting comes amid continued diplomatic efforts to prevent renewed tensions and strengthen trust along the shared border.
