PHNOM PENH, April 28, 2026 — Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence on Tuesday hosted foreign military attachés for a site visit to inspect a bridge in Pursat province that authorities say was destroyed in a Thai airstrike last year.

The visit, part of the second annual tour for the Military Attachés Corps in Phnom Penh (MACPP), aimed to allow observers to verify the situation at Stung Meteuk Bridge, according to a statement by defence ministry spokeswoman Lieutenant General Maly Socheata.

Cambodian officials said the bridge, described as a civilian infrastructure located dozens of kilometres from the Cambodia–Thailand border, was completely destroyed in an attack by Thai Air Force fighter jets on Dec. 13, 2025.

The Royal Government of Cambodia reiterated its commitment to resolving border issues peacefully, in line with international law and existing bilateral agreements.

Authorities also stressed adherence to the Joint Statement from the third special meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) held on Dec. 27, 2025.

The visit comes amid ongoing tensions along parts of the Cambodia–Thailand border, with both sides maintaining diplomatic engagement alongside calls for stability and restraint.
