PHNOM PENH, June 23, 2026 – Cambodia will extend tax incentives for domestically produced cement for another two years until the end of 2028, Prime Minister Hun Manet said on Tuesday, reaffirming government support for local manufacturers and efforts to strengthen the country’s industrial competitiveness.

The announcement came during a meeting at the Peace Palace with Vinh Hour, chairman of the Cambodia Cement Industry Association, and representatives of member companies.

Hun Manet said the government would continue the tax incentives it has provided to domestic cement producers over recent years, describing the measure as a state contribution to support local manufacturers. He added that the success of existing investors was one of Cambodia’s strongest tools for attracting new foreign and domestic investment.

He also urged cement producers to maintain product quality while keeping prices competitive, saying consumer confidence and competitiveness depended on delivering quality products at reasonable prices. The prime minister encouraged the industry to further strengthen its production supply chain to ensure a stable domestic supply.

According to the association, its member companies have invested about US$1.2 billion in Cambodia and have a combined production capacity of approximately 12 million tonnes of cement annually. The sector currently employs 2,119 workers, around 90% of whom are Cambodian nationals.

The association said domestic producers supply between 8 million and 9 million tonnes of cement to the local market each year while sourcing around 85% of production inputs domestically, helping improve the industry’s competitiveness. It added that member companies have also contributed to community development through infrastructure projects, schools, health centres and other social initiatives.

Hun Manet reiterated that the government regards the private sector as a key partner in Cambodia’s socio-economic development and pledged continued support for both domestic and foreign investors operating in the country.
