Chinese Premier Calls for Stronger Cambodia-China Cooperation
BEIJING, 26 June 2026 – Chinese Premier Li Qiang has reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening ties with Cambodia, calling for both countries to work together to address external risks and challenges while safeguarding their shared interests. The remarks were made during a meeting with Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen in China.
Li said China is willing to deepen political mutual trust with Cambodia, strengthen the alignment of the two countries’ development strategies, and expand exchanges and practical cooperation across a range of sectors.
He said Beijing aims to enhance collaboration in trade, infrastructure, agriculture, clean energy, the digital economy and cultural exchanges to deliver greater benefits to the people of both countries.
In response, Hun Sen said Cambodia-China relations have entered a new stage in building a community with a shared future in the new era.
Hun Sen also expressed appreciation for China’s long-standing support and assistance to Cambodia and reaffirmed Phnom Penh’s commitment to strengthening practical cooperation with Beijing across various sectors.
