Three Dead, Including 6-Year-Old Boy in Suspected Shooting
SUPHAN BURI, Thailand, Sept. 29, 2026 — Police are investigating a triple-death case in central Thailand after a 45-year-old woman, her six-year-old son and a 42-year-old man were found dead inside a house in Sam Chuk district, Suphan Buri province.
The bodies were discovered at a single-storey concrete house in Nong Phak Nak subdistrict after relatives became concerned and entered the property. Police were alerted after the victims were found.
The woman, identified as Thiranyada, 45, was found in the bathroom near a toilet with a gunshot wound to the head. The 42-year-old man, identified as Athiphong, was found inside the house with a gunshot wound near his left ear.
The six-year-old boy, who was the woman’s son, was found dead in a bedroom. Authorities ordered a detailed forensic examination to establish the child’s exact cause of death. Thai reports have differed on whether the child had visible gunshot injuries, and police were still investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
A relative living behind the house told police that he heard three or four loud bangs at around 7:30pm the previous evening. He initially believed the sounds were caused by someone hammering wood or repairing a damaged door, so he did not investigate.
When he returned the following evening, he noticed that all the lights in the house were still on and that there was no grass in the cattle pen. After taking grass to the animals and moving pig feed, he asked the woman’s daughter to check the house.
The door was unlocked. When she entered, she discovered the bodies and alerted authorities.
Athiphong’s wife later arrived at the scene and told police that she had not known her husband was at the house. She said he had left home about three or four days earlier and had been missing until she was informed that he had been found dead.
Forensic officers collected evidence from the scene while investigators examined CCTV footage from the property and surrounding areas and questioned relatives, friends and other people connected to the victims. Police initially considered a personal dispute as one possible motive.
The investigation subsequently took a new turn when Thai media reported that police took the woman’s 44-year-old husband, identified as Chatchai, into custody after he surrendered. Investigators were examining his account and an alleged jealousy-related motive involving his wife and Athiphong. Reports said he claimed the child’s death occurred during the shooting, but the circumstances remained subject to investigation.
Police have not publicly established the full sequence of events or the final motive, and forensic examination and further questioning remain central to the investigation.
The case has drawn significant attention because the victims included a young child and because the two adults were found with apparent gunshot wounds inside a private residence. Authorities are continuing efforts to establish exactly what happened before the three deaths and determine criminal responsibility.
