SIEM REAP, May 31, 2026 — A high-level delegation of Francophone central bank governors visited the Angkor Archaeological Park on Sunday following the conclusion of the 28th Conference of Francophone Central Bank Governors hosted by Cambodia.

The delegation, led by National Bank of Cambodia Governor Dr. Chea Serey, was welcomed by APSARA National Authority Director-General Dr. Hang Peou during the visit to several temples within the Angkor complex.

According to the APSARA National Authority, the tour provided delegates with an opportunity to gain deeper insight into the history, art, and architectural achievements of the Angkor civilization, one of Cambodia’s most important cultural and historical treasures. Officials also briefed visitors on key achievements and conservation efforts undertaken by the APSARA National Authority to preserve the UNESCO World Heritage site.

The visit came after delegates completed their participation in the 28th Conference of Francophone Central Bank Governors, held in Phnom Penh from May 28 to 30. The gathering brought together governors and senior representatives from Francophone central banks to discuss monetary, financial, and economic issues under the theme of central bank independence amid growing expectations from governments and the public.

Cambodia’s hosting of the conference and the subsequent visits to Sambor Prei Kukvisits to Sambor Prei Kuk and Angkor highlighted the country’s efforts to combine international diplomacy and economic cooperation with the promotion of its rich cultural heritage.

Officials said the visit offered international delegates a firsthand look at Cambodia’s centuries-old civilization while strengthening cultural understanding alongside professional exchanges among participating countries.
